Get in the Game
As your counselor at WEMCHS, I cannot stress enough the crucial need to stay PROACTIVE when it comes to your high school career. There are so many opportunities that will present themselves over the course of your 4 years. Take advantage of all that you can – gain experience, leadership skills, broaden your horizons, do all that you can to grow as an individual. I can’t overstress the importance of volunteering. It’s a win-win situation. Not only do you satisfy a need for your community, but you also gain experiences, friendships and learn an invaluable life-lesson that through giving you yourself get more in return by choosing to help someone else. Get to know your counselor!
Ask about or tell me what types of programs you’re interested in . Together we can make your high school career fun, exciting, meaningful and memorable.

Paying for College
Hey Seniors! Hope you are all having a great senior year. Before you know it this year will come to an end. I truly want you to be prepared as you venture forth with your plans for next year. Remember, whether you are planning to stay at Wayne CC or go off to a four-year school, please stop by and talk to me about scholarships or your other vital source for financial aid – the FAFSA. The FAFSA is your ticket to grants, loans and work-study programs. The FAFSA does have a deadline (March 15th for NC) and can be a bit tricky the first time you fill it out, so don’t be worried about asking questions. The 5 Minute FAFSA video here on my blog is fun, but also does contain a lot of useful information. Come on by – let’s chat!
